Its been one hell of a ride the last couple of months. In total three projects have gone live and there are more to come – check out the portfolio page. I’m not gonna lie, it feels good having something to show for your efforts, rather than having it shelved because of other business objectives and priorities. Based on past experiences, that seems to happen more often than not – even with freelance work.
I often wonder if people actually stop to think exactly what their goal is for a project. Surely we’re all working towards the same one? Usually, the most obvious reasons for projects that are dropped are money and time, but really there is that underlying problem within business – the constant power struggle, conflicting views, project direction or people just being too damn stubborn.
Sure, some people would say, “at the end of the day, you’re getting paid right, so what does it matter?”. Well, I for one want to show what I’ve worked on, it keeps me motivated to do even better the next time.
It’s a shame people have to have their own agenda for everything they do as I really think it just complicates things when working together, but then again that wouldn’t be business right?
Ok, so own up, how many of you have been in that situation? Please, do tell…
